Mr. Dinshaw Avari

Dinshaw Avari’s career is replete with directorships in Spencer Pharma, Avari Travel Agencies & Avari International Hotels as well as holding chief executive and managerial positions. He is a keen member of various sports clubs and youth associations, having served in various capacities. Dinshaw’s passion is sailing, having won two major events in 1979 and participated in six international events from 1981 to 2008. His other interests are water skiing, swimming, scuba diving, reading and movies.

Ms. Yusra Gilani


Yusra Gilani is a Legal Consultant for Acumen Fund – Pakistan. Prior to joining Acumen Fund in October 2007, she worked for five years as a Senior Associate with Mandviwalla & Zafar, a corporate and financial services law firm, where she represented various banks and public and private sector companies on diverse deals. Her work there included setting up and licensing various banks and Islamic banks, and undertaking mergers and acquisitions of banks and financial companies. Yusra is a Barrister at Law and a member of the Honourable Society of Lincolns Inn, as well as an Advocate and a member of the Sindh Bar Council in Pakistan.

Mr. Malik Arshad Gilani
B.Sc, C.Eng, F.I.Mech E, F.I.Mar E

As one of three Directors with equal share holding established Panmatex Corporation Pvt. Ltd, (1976) a trading Company specialized in representing international multi national companies especially in the Oil, Gas, Engineering and Engineering Design sectors. These included Foster Wheeler Energy (U.K), ACB-Alsthom, Prolon Industrial, UK & TTS, NORWAY. Panmatex Corporation (Pvt) Limited, was closed down on the death of one of the partners. Following which he established SAZAYS Enterprises (Pvt) Limited and continues to serve as Consultant for theses international companies in the capacity of Chairman & Chief Operating Officer of SAZAYS Enterprises (Pvt.) Ltd.

He introduced, Nandos, a South African Food Franchise to Pakistan as the sponsoring Director and is the Managing Director of Sports Worldwide Marketing & Management (Pvt) Ltd. This Company has been closely involved in the marketing of Television Rights for the Pakistan Cricket Board. He serves as the Chief Executive officer of Tyms Education Ltd and the Chairman and is the Founding Chairperson of The International School Governing Board.

Amongst his profile in event management, he has been involved in the organization of: The ICC Cricket World Cup (Pakistan) , The Sportsman of the Millennium (Jahangir Khan) for PIA and a first ever live broadcast from site, and SAF Games 2004 – live telecast produced for International satellite transmission. In association with International Management Group (Trans World International) represented Pakistan Cricket Board from 1994 to 1999. During this period the television earnings of PCB rose from US$ 1,000.00 per year to US$.7.0 million per year, and also arranged sponsorships and other sales for PCB. (The maximum Title Sponsorship to date of U.S.D. 4 million for the India Tour to Pakistan in 2004). TWI produced all the television coverage during this period the highlight of which was the Tour of the England Team being the largest live sports production from Pakistan involving 18 cameras and ten tons of associated electronic equipment being imported and taken around Pakistan.

Ms. Barbara Wickham
Director of British Council (Sindh & Balochistan)

With Work experience spanning over four continents, Barbara Wickham, British Council Director for Sindh and Balochistan is no stranger to foreign assignments. She has an extensive English Language Teaching Background and has worked in Egypt, Spain and the UK among the countries as an English Language Teaching Specialist. In addition to teaching English, she has experience in leading British Council operations in South Korea, China, Nepal, Venezuela and Ethiopia. Barbara is passionate about the environment and her ambition is to be a farmer.


Dr. Nasir Afghan
MBA (Industrialization and Strategic Management), PHD (Managerial Effectiveness)

Dr. Nasir Afghan is a Director of the MBA program and Asst Prof at IBA Karachi. He is also a visiting professor at University of Applied Sciences Graz, Austria.  Prior to his MBA, he has worked for several years in Singapore for a Fortune 500 Oil exploration firm. As Management Consultant he has performed numbers of consulting projects on Human Resources Development, Leadership Development in organization. He has presented papers at several conferences including Asia Academy of Management conference, 2002, Transformational leadership conference, in Ljubljana, Slovenia 2005. His research on Succession and Successor Development within the Family Businesses produced conference paper for European Academy of Management proceedings, Paris 2007. His present research interest is in the area of Transformation Leadership and Leadership Development. He conducted several executive education programs as program director mostly in HRM, Team Building, Organizational Restructuring and Leadership Development at LUMS. He has been conducting training and coaching programs for PNRA, IAEA, Dubai Siemens and Dubai AMB-AMRO and most of the Pakistani large private organizations. He has been serving as Director and Board member of several profit and nonprofit organizations in Pakistan. Currently he is serving as Leadership Development Consultant for International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Vienna, Austria. He is also an adviser to Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) on leadership development.


Osman Asghar Ali Khan

Osman assumed the task of building and establishing an EMC office in Pakistan and has the honor to be selected by the Irish Government to be their Honorary Consul for Ireland in Pakistan and Afghanistan. In addition, he is a Member of the Executive Committee and Head of the Media and Events sub-committee for the Pakistan American Business Council. He was the SECP Nominee and Head of the Internal Audit Committee for the Lahore Stock Exchange in 2010, Member of the Board and Head of the Audit Subcommittee for Pakistan Merchantile Exchange Limited in 2010, SECP Government Nominee and Head of the Audit Committee for Karachi Stock Exchange in 2009 and served on NCCPL Limited as a Director in 2009.

Prior to this, he was the Financial and Operations Director for EMEA North responsible for supporting the Vice President for the region with responsibility for all days to day operational and finance tasks. This role he assumed after starting his career as a senior auditor at Ernest and Young.

Mr. Taymur Mirza

B.A. (Mathematics, Computer Science), M.A. (Applied Educational Leadership & Management )

As a social entrepreneur interested in the field of Education management and promotion, Taymur Mirza established, in 1996, the first International Baccalaureate ( world School, for students aged 3 to 18 years, in Pakistan and is currently involved in the day-to-day management of the concern. Whilst still involved with the school, he has been provided numerous opportunities by the affiliate International Baccalaureate Organization in the capacity of education program evaluator, presenter, subject examiner and workshop leader.

Prior to The International School, he was a private Mathematics tutor to students writing the British General Certificate of Educations’ Ordinary and Advanced level Mathematics examination. The success of this offered service in record time with attractive monetary gains only confirmed the opportunity in providing quality education in Pakistan. This led to conducting a marketing survey, preparing financial model for an IB world School, raising of equity capital from the private sector and launching of The International School, the first and world school in Pakistan.

As Secretary of the company Board, he is currently finalizing expansion plans for Tyms Education Ltd, the management firm which owns and manages The International School. He serves as a Trustee of Indus Earth, a non-profit organization committed to empowering the “poor” and of NITRO, a non –profit committed to the promotion of sporting activities in Karachi, Pakistan.
